Arriving on Celetná

The tavern sits at Celetná 597/17, on the pedestrian stretch between Old Town Square and the Powder Gate — a street that has carried foot traffic since medieval times, when it formed part of the Royal Route used for coronation processions between the Old Town and the castle district. Anyone based centrally can cover that on foot without booking a transfer. The venue asks guests to arrive 15 minutes before their sitting starts, and the QR code on your ticket is scanned at the door, so building in that buffer matters more than the show time printed on the confirmation.

Taking your bench

Inside, the room is a stone-vaulted cellar with long wooden tables and benches rather than individual place settings — a layout built for a shared, communal meal rather than a quiet dinner for two tucked in a corner. Whichever sitting you've booked, you're seated at the same kind of table, with the same view of the floor where the performers work.

The first courses and the first act

Once seated, the meal and the entertainment run alongside each other rather than one after the other. Swordsmen, dancers, jugglers, musicians, acrobats and a fire show make up the rotating cast, so keep your eyes on the floor between courses. Beer, wine and soft drinks are poured on an unlimited round from the start, not held back for a single welcome glass.

Eating without cutlery

The tavern is direct about the format: meals are eaten "in the spirit of the times, with your hands." That applies across both sittings and is a deliberate part of the medieval framing rather than an oversight — expect it before you sit down, not as a surprise once the first plate lands.

Through to dessert

The meal runs across five courses, an appetizer, a soup, two main courses each with a choice of sides and salad, and dessert, over roughly two and a half hours. That holds for both sittings; only the start time changes.

Leaving Celetná

There's no published finish time beyond the roughly two-and-a-half-hour running length, so build in some flexibility rather than booking something tight straight afterwards. Given the central address, most Old Town and wider city-centre accommodation is a short walk or a quick taxi from the door.
