Finding Celetná
The tavern is at Celetná 597/17, on the pedestrian street that connects Old Town Square to the Powder Gate. Because the street runs directly off the square, most visitors staying anywhere in central Prague can walk the last stretch rather than arrange a transfer for what is, in distance terms, a short walk within the Old Town.
Timing the walk around arrival
The venue asks guests to arrive 15 minutes before their sitting begins, and the QR code on your ticket is checked at the door — so the number to plan around is your sitting time minus at least 15 minutes, not the sitting time itself. Celetná gets busy with foot traffic during the day, which is worth allowing extra time for if you're arriving for the 4:30pm sitting.
A pedestrian street, not a driving one
Celetná is a pedestrian zone, so a taxi or rideshare will typically drop you at the nearest accessible point rather than directly outside the door — build in a short walk either way, and confirm the exact drop-off with your driver if you're arriving in a group.
What's nearby before or after
Old Town Square sits at one end of Celetná and the Powder Gate at the other, both within a few minutes on foot — useful either side of the evening, whether you want to see the square before your early sitting or head that way afterwards if the night has run late and you're not ready to turn in.
Dress and expectations for a cellar dinner
Comfortable, casual clothes suit the room: stone floors, long benches and a cool vaulted cellar. Dress for a boisterous group meal rather than a quiet restaurant.
After the last course
There's no published finish time beyond the roughly two-and-a-half-hour running length for the evening sitting, so leave some flexibility either side rather than scheduling something immediately after. The central Old Town address means most people are back at their accommodation within minutes on foot, or a few more by taxi, rather than facing a cross-town trip this late.
